Supporting Elite Player Development

Supporting Elite Player Development

NDC Construction has had a trusted partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the City of Bradenton for nearly thirty years. In that time, there have been numerous projects—both large and small—completed to ensure the team and the Pirates’ facilities are at the top of their game. Here are just a few of them.

Pirate City Dormitory and Clubhouse Expansion (2007-2008) $25 million*
This Pirate City project required an aggressive nine-month schedule to ensure it would be completed just ahead of Spring Training. NDC Construction built a new 60,000-square-foot dormitory and administration building to house 168 players, staff, and coaches. In addition, the facility incorporated front office space, team meeting rooms, and recreation areas. The existing major league clubhouse was also expanded during this time, adding an additional 8,000 square feet. NDC Construction completed everything on time and within budget.

Pirate City Strength & Conditioning Center (2014-2015) $2.47 million*
In 2014, the Pirates came to NDC Construction to build a new 12,300-square-foot facility where the team could train on the most up-to-date workout equipment. Covered with a specialized rubber flooring material, the Pre-Engineered Metal Building has an open floor plan featuring a flexibility area, a strength and power area, and an agility area. It also includes a 1,000-square-foot exercise mezzanine and a 1,500-square-foot outdoor covered turf area. Office space for staff is incorporated as well, enabling them to work and observe players as they train.

Hurricane Repairs & Enhancements (2024-2025) $860,000*
In fall 2024, two back-to-back hurricanes caused significant damage to the Batter’s Eyes in each outfield. NDC Construction replaced them in under three months, ensuring the project was completed in time for Spring Training 2025.

To enhance athlete recovery and performance, the Pirates also brought NDC Construction in to convert an exercise pool into two modern plunge pools.

Our ongoing collaboration with the City of Bradenton and the Pirates continues to give NDC Construction valuable insight into what makes a top-tier baseball facility.
