Position Overview:
Reports to the Project Manager. The Project Engineer acts as a bridge between the office and field operations by managing project documentation, supporting subcontractor coordination, and assisting with cost, schedule, and quality control.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project logs.
- Review drawings and identify conflicts or discrepancies.
- Support project scheduling and cost tracking.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and consultants to resolve technical issues.
- Assist with budget management and invoice review.
- Perform regular site walks and provide technical support to field staff.
- Act as a point of contact for specific trades or project components.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to develop and execute effective strategies that reduce delays or issues that may arise during the project, proactively mitigating potential risks to the company.
- Assistant Project Engineers report to the Project Engineer.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- 0–3 years of construction industry experience (internship or field experience a plus).
- Familiarity with construction processes, means, and methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) is a plus.
Work Environment
- Split between office and field settings, depending on project needs.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (hard hat, vest, boots, safety glasses).
- Collaboration with assistant project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors in a deadline-driven environment.
