What’s one of the keys to having a thriving downtown? Giving people somewhere to park. Recognizing this growing need, the City of Bradenton determined that merely putting up a concrete parking structure wouldn’t suffice. Instead, leaders envisioned a mixed-use facility that addressed the public’s needs while beautifying the downtown skyline and providing expanded office and retail space.

Working alongside Fawley Bryant Architecture, NDC Construction built the approximately 200,000-square-foot structure on time and within budget, while carefully coordinating construction to minimize disruption to surrounding downtown businesses. Through strategic material procurement, the project also generated over $280,000 in tax savings for the city.

The resulting City Centre Garage provides 500 parking spaces, a new 7,700-square-foot office space for the Manatee Chamber, and 4,000 square feet of  retail storefront space for local small businesses.

By prioritizing the structure’s design, the city created a facility that enhances the downtown landscape. Statement-making architectural features include a three-story trellis, a yellow perforated aluminum façade, and three-story teal aluminum fins over the Chamber’s offices lit with programmable, color-changing LED lighting. The aluminum-framed windows into the garage spaces provide a finished, polished appearance throughout. The retail spaces facing Old Main Street were intentionally designed to complement the character of the existing historic commercial neighborhood, blending modern functionality with traditional aesthetics.
