Designed for Education, Built for Safety
Designed for Education, Built for Safety
As the first new elementary school built in the area in a decade, excitement about Barbara A. Harvey Elementary’s potential was palpable. NDC Construction and Hepner Architects, Inc. teamed up to create a state-of-the-art facility that not only provides top-notch features for students but also serves as a powerful hurricane shelter for the community.
Constructed in compliance with Green Globes certification standards, the school accommodates more than 800 students. The two-story facility features 47 classrooms with 75″ Samsung Touchscreen Instructional Panels and is also equipped with comprehensive safety and security measures.
With shelter capacity for nearly 2,000, the school serves the community as an enhanced hurricane protection area (EHPA). It has been built to withstand Category 5 hurricane wind speeds.

NDC understands the nuances of public sector construction, particularly on active school campuses. Their work across the district…involved comprehensive site development, hurricane-hardening measures, integrated building systems, and continuous coordination among stakeholders. [NDC Construction] remains a trusted partner… delivering projects that are on time and within budget.
