Coordinated Effort Opens Medical College in Record Time
When the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) identified the need for its first branch campus, it quickly became clear that Lakewood Ranch in Manatee County, Florida, was the ideal location. Florida’s rapidly growing population made additional medical professionals essential, and LECOM could fulfill that need.
With an ambitious launch timeline, LECOM turned to NDC Construction and Fawley Bryant Architecture to build the medical college. Through close collaboration with Manatee County and the Economic Development Council, NDC Construction delivered a 110,000 SF campus in just 14 months—from initial design through final construction.
The advanced medical education facility features two 225-seat lecture halls, multi-purpose research laboratories, a medical library, student study labs, classrooms, a cafeteria, and faculty offices.
