A New Hub for Performance, Dining, and Creative Living
A New Hub for Performance, Dining, and Creative Living
NDC Construction is collaborating with Florida Studio Theatre (FST) to expand Sarasota’s thriving arts district. Having previously renovated FST’s historic Gompertz Theatre and built their Kretzmer Artist Housing Project, NDC Construction understands what a vital addition this new project will be to the city, where demand for the arts continues to grow.
The new eight-story facility, designed by architect C. Alan Anderson, will be a 144,300-square-foot multifunctional center. Featuring two floors of theatre space, the center will include a main theatre and two one-hundred-seat cabarets—the Maier and Schlegel. It will also feature a commercial kitchen, a dining area, and theatre support spaces.
Another key mission of the project is to provide affordable space for visiting and local artists to stay. NDC Construction is building 24 residential units and 33 hotel rooms across three floors within the center. To accommodate parking for audiences, staff, and residents, a 127-space parking garage is also being constructed.
Located next door to the Gompertz Theatre, the McGillicuddy Arts Plaza will be a welcome addition to Sarasota’s thriving arts scene.
Completion Date: Phase I: August 2027
